The Opportunity This position works out of our Abbott Park location in the General Counsel division.
The Senior Business Systems Analyst will join Abbott’s dynamic Information Governance & Records (“IGR”) group and support managing Abbott data throughout its lifecycle, while working to enhance IGR maturity across the enterprise.
Individual acts as liaison between the business and IGR information systems like our records management system and participates in the development of new system(s) and enhancements of existing system(s) to support business processes.
Works with system end-users and technology service providers.
The position reports to the Manager Information Governance Technology and interacts with data management stakeholders across the BTS and Legal functions, as well as diverse business groups.
What You’ll Work On Key Responsibilities: Provides functional expertise for IGR systems, including establishing and maintaining system-specific documentation and operational procedures.
Participates in reviewing governance information for new data sources for archiving.
Designs/administers processes and controls for tracking governance activities throughout the data archival lifecycle.
Primary point of contact across Abbott for importing electronic records into Abbott’s records information management system (RIMS).
Responsible for designing and executing SQL queries in IGR systems and databases where the user interface provides insufficient data for IGR or stakeholder requirements.
Conducts training for new RIMS users and helps to design training materials.
Executes on and completes tasks associated with strategic projects.
Reviews/approves Data Lifecycle Management (DLM) assessments for information systems for records management compliance and works with system owners to identify creative solutions to technical barriers to compliance.
Defines requirements by analyzing business processes.
Designs and constructs solutions by analyzing business processes and requirements.
Evaluates business process solutions by creating and executing testing scenarios.
Implements business process solutions by creating, delivering and training users on new business processes and systems.
Supports end-users in the day-to-day application of the system by discussing and solving problems (problem resolution, running queries, providing first-line troubleshooting support).
Participates in determining goals and objectives for projects.
Influences middle management on technical or business solutions.
May interact with vendors.
Establishes priorities of work assignments.
Exercises judgment in selecting innovative, practical methods to achieve problem resolution.
Qualifications BA/BS in Information Systems or Business Administration or BA/BS in another discipline with equivalent experience.
5-7 years of experience in software systems including enterprise systems, databases, infrastructure, networks, and other technical domains.
SQL and data analytics skills preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft O365 (e.
g.
, Excel, SharePoint, macros) is preferable.
OpenText Content Suite and records management background is preferable.
Strong attention to detail and documentation.
Ability to quickly assimilate knowledge of processes, frameworks, and technologies.
Strong time management, organizational and priority setting skills.
Ability to adapt readily to change in routine and to work across multiple areas.
Ability to work effectively within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Strong interpersonal written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and concisely across organization levels and build effective working relationships.
