The Co-op assignment will be with the Biologics Discovery team within Abbott Diagnostics Research and Development.
The R&D team discovers and designs biologics for use in diagnostic assays.
The team consists of scientists with subject matter expertise in molecular biology, cell culture, microbiology, protein engineering and DNA sequencing.
In addition to contributing to ongoing biologics discovery projects, the team is expanding their bioinformatics and bioprospecting capabilities.
The Co-op assignment will assist in developing a process to mine publicly available databases for protein sequence information and augment an existing pipeline for clustering those sequences.
In addition, the co-op will build a GUI for deployment of the pipeline to the wider team.
The co-op will use and build upon skill sets in bioinformatics and Artificial Intelligence.
A background in Python is required and experience designing and developing web applications using Microsoft ASP.
NET (Web Forms/MVC/Web API) is preferred.
Co-ops work 6-month, full-time assignment
