Job Summary
The Health Technician supports Behavioral Health Services psychiatric medical providers in delivering quality outpatient services to children and adults presenting with mental health or substance use diagnoses.
The Health Technician will have direct patient contact and perform support tasks such for the outpatient clinic.
Position will have frequent contact with individuals with serious and persistent mental illness.
Essential Duties
Obtain vitals (blood pressure, temperature, weight, pulse) for patients as assigned.
Support patients in telehealth interactions.
Conduct drug screens when requested.
Notify case managers and therapists of health-related documentation needed for consumer records.
Maintain written records and documentation in accordance with Clinic, CCS and CSP regulations.
Assisting patients in scheduling and obtaining lab work.
Notify the case managers or therapists of any psychiatric symptoms or behavior changes that may require intervention.
Make recommendations for educational and clinical changes to the Clinical Director.
Maintain regular oral and written communication with supervisors regarding job duties, concerns, and program status reports.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service trainings.
Participate in continuous program quality-improvement efforts, which emphasize treatment engagement, continuation in treatment and successful completion of treatment.
Utilizing electronic case management software (TCM – The Clinic Manager) record summary of each encounter, including notations of missed, cancelled appointments, as well as telephone contacts according to Medicare, Medicaid, and other clinic standards.
Maintain a professional and confidential relationship with patients.
Employee will maintain records that follow Racine County and Wisconsin regulations.
Employee will maintain required production levels.
Provide oral and written communication that is appropriate to the task and in accordance with agency, DHS 36, 75 and 63 and Medicaid standards.
Complete all necessary health care/medical and financial record documentation required to maintain complete medical and financial billing records.
Perform medical/psychiatric outreach as needed.
Prepares charts and/or information and consumer updates for the prescribers.
Scheduling follow-up appointments for the prescribers.
Maintain supply cabinet.
Answer calls either transferred to the nurse or on the med line.
Maintain updated injection schedule.
Complete prior authorizations as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned, including responding to an emergency event.
Supervision Received
Receives supervision from the Clinical Director.
Qualifications
Medical Assistant or Certified Nursing Assistant Certification is preferred.
Two (2) years of experience is preferred.
Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and automobile insurance is preferred.
Prompt and regular attendance.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
Must have ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and interact effectively with consumers and other health care professionals.
Must own and be able to legally operate a vehicle and have necessary insurance.
Interacts with the public in a professional manner.
