Waukegan Community Unit School District No.
60 serves nearly 15,500 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan.
Our District has one early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9 – 12th grade campuses.
The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

60 has set an ambitious agenda for change, guided by the belief that all children, regardless of circumstances, can achieve at high levels and academic gaps can and will be eliminated with the support of teachers who deliver engaging, relevant, and academically rigorous instruction that excites students and instills a love of learning in them.
Responsibilities: Provide nursing services to students in accordance with accepted practices and procedures as outlined in students’ IEPs.
Perform health assessments, if needed.
Complete all necessary paperwork according to federal, state and district guidelines.
Consult and collaborate with teachers, other related services providers and administration, as needed.
Communicate with parents/guardians, when needed.
Serve as a consultant to school personnel on matters involving health of pupils.
Promote an awareness of the health needs of pupils.
Provide direct services to children who require immediate medical care.
Attempt to prevent the spread of communicable disease within the school environment.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Diverse Learners Administration and/or Site Administrator.
Qualifications: Must hold Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) Registered Nurse Certificate.
Compensation: Based on current hourly wages for teachers.
Additional Information: No more than two days can be missed without jeopardizing dismissal and termination of the contract unless extenuating circumstances prevail.
An hourly rate of $35 per hour will be deducted for each hour or partial hour missed.
This includes time before and after the start and end of the school day and all professional development sessions.
Safety: The employee is responsible for taking any and all steps necessary to protect yourself and others against occupational accidents, injuries, and illnesses.
