SUMMARY: Provide accounting support to the ownership & departmental personnel by ensuring data integrity of financial information, providing timely & accurate reporting to management, safeguarding company assets, and maintaining internal controls.
Works closely with management performing analysis and driving financial performance.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for the Bear Property Management business and the external property managed entities financial statements and financial operations.
Oversees and provides a weekly status snapshot of the cash and debt position of all Mills Family Entities to owners/management.
AppFolio System Administrator including new user set-up and system modifications.
Owns the banking relationships with all lending and cash management institutions.
Manages relationship with outside insurance organization used by the companies and oversees monthly billings for all insurance expenses.
Coordinate annual budgeting process and work with Property Managers to complete annual property budgets.
Oversee and review and annual calculations for CAM charges.
Maintains good relationship with external accountant and tax preparation firm.
Prepares for the disbursement or transfer of funds to vendors, owners, and home buyers.
Prepares any complex journal entries, account reconciliations, and cross entity charges.
Leads and develops team to ensure compete, timely, and accurate financials as well driving performance to meet departmental and company goals.
Examine and analyze existing policies and procedures, researching alternative opportunities, communicating any changes to existing or adaption of new throughout the organization.
Manage financial reporting process to ensure proper information is communicated timely to stakeholders.
Understand and provide guidance of core accounting principles and business practices.
Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelors degree in accounting required; CPA certification preferred
Seven to ten years related experience
Familiarity with GAAP and technical accounting standards and terminology
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Ability to manage priorities and workflow
Acute attention to detail
Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
Proficient on AppFolio software
Strong interpersonal skills.
Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
