Purpose: This position plays an important and visible role in planning and consolidations for R&D and requires a collaborative individual who seeks results and has strong interpersonal skills.
This position requires the ability to prepare presentations that are clear, concise and tell a story.
This person should be able to anticipate and identify business issues and develop appropriate action plans.
Planning activities include coordinating the annual Plan, Update, LRP, LBEs and various ad hoc requests for R&D and presenting to Executive management such data in a clear and concise manner thereby enhancing the management decision-making process.
Responsibilities: Provide detailed support for financial analysis as required by various levels of R&D management, including the SVP R&D, VP Controller and direct support staff.
Lead the planning cycles of R&D including Update/Plan/LRP/LBE and ensure activities are completed in-line with Corporate requirements.
Includes providing strategic input in completion of and decisions related to consolidated results.
Responsible for the development of executive level presentations for the planning cycles.
Provide financial support related to R&D budgets.
Provide leadership in strategic/tactical financial analysis to maximize financial return on business change opportunities, project prioritization and rationalization, HR talent sourcing, etc.
Support of R&D strategic priorities including systems implementations, acquisitions, divestitures, and other strategic initiatives.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA and/or advanced degree a plus.
Strong accounting skills are required, as well as solid understanding of AbbVie's accounting policies.
Experience in a complex global organization.
Pharmaceutical sector experience a plus but not required.
12+ years of progressive Accounting or Finance with 5+ years of management experience.
Demonstrated project management skills and experience, which includes project leadership in organizing, planning and executing projects from vision through implementation, across multiple internal and external reporting and organizational lines.
Strong analytical skills – able to synergize data into information to make decisions, able to make recommendations and proposals.
Demonstrated ability working in a matrix organization, building strong partnerships, and accessing available resources.
High personal integrity, energy and objectivity.
Process focused with experience in implementing process improvements or other change management initiatives.
Ability for managing multiple priorities in a dynamic and challenging environment.
Experience in coaching and career development.
