The Accounts Receivable Accounting Specialist is a key member of the Waukegan Steel (WS) accounting team.
The position will report to the Finance Controller and will lead efforts to ensure all WS project payment applications are submitted and approved in a timely manager and all deadlines are met.
This role will also formulate and submit required waivers of lien.
Constant communication with customer accounting departments to resolve issues and obtain prompt release of payments.
This role has strong growth potential as WS continues to grow.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Process monthly pay applications utilizing AIA G702, G703 forms
• Confirm approval of monthly pay applications by customers
• Resolve issues, and revise pay applications as needed to obtain approval
• Prepare, submit, and obtain approval of required waivers of lien.
• Prepare accounts receivable aging reports
• Track and follow up on overdue payments and assertively contact customers to identify and resolve issues
• Log and update WS accounting software (sage)
• Assist controller with monthly close and preparation of financial reports
Education and Experience
• Education required: Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in accounting is preferred but not required
• 2+ years of experience operating in an accounting dept.
in the Chicagoland construction industry
• 2+ years of experience in an accounts receivable role
• Experience working AIA G702, G703 forms and waivers of lien is required
• PROCORE software knowledge is preferred
• Candidate must be driven and possess strong communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment
• Highly organized, detail-oriented individual with the ability to follow up on tasks without daily guidance
• Ability to effectively manage a high volume of requests in a professional manner
• Self motivated and able to prioritize multiple requests
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook
