The Accounts Receivable Accounting Specialist is a key member of the Waukegan Steel (WS) accounting dept.
and will lead efforts to ensure all WS project payment applications are submitted and approved in a timely manner and all deadlines are met.
This role will also formulate and submit required waivers of lien.
Constant communication with customer accounting departments to resolve issues and obtain prompt release of payments.
This role has strong growth potential as WS revenue continues to increase.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Process monthly pay applications utilizing AIA G702, G703 forms
• Confirm approval of monthly pay applications by customers
• Resolve issues, revise pay applications as needed to obtain approval
• Prepare, submit, and obtain approval of required waivers of lien.
• Prepare accounts receivable aging reports
• Track overdue payments and assertively contact customers to identify and resolve issues
• Log and update WS accounting software
• Assist controller with monthly close and preparation of financial reports
Education and Experience
• 2+ years of experience operating in an accounting dept.
in the Chicagoland construction industry
• 2+ years of experience in an accounts receivable role
• Experience working with AIA G702, G703 forms and waivers of lien is required
• PROCORE software knowledge is preferred
• Required: Bachelor’s Degree with an emphasis in accounting is preferred but not required
• Candidate must be driven and assertive with strong communication skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment
• Highly organized, detail-oriented individual with the ability to follow up on tasks without daily guidance
• Ability to effectively manage a high volume of requests in a professional manner
• Self-motivated and able to prioritize multiple request
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, Outlook
