The Weigher weighs quantities of ingredients to use in recipes.
Job Responsibilities
• Weighs quantities of ingredients for use in food production processes
• Places loose or packaged material on scales and adds or removes portions of ingredients to obtain specified weight
• Reads recipes to determine types and quantities of ingredients to weigh
• Records weight of materials used for production records, or maintains perpetual inventory of materials used and on hand
• May dump materials in prescribed sequence into chute or hopper
• May transfer weighed materials to production using hand truck
• May sort weighed ingredients into designated bins or containers, according to weight or type.
• Maintain safe and clean working environment
• Report any issues to the Production Team Leader
• Always follow GMP’s and Safety Procedures
• Comply with all Company rules, regulations, work instructions and policies
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Additional Skills:
• GED or high school diploma is required
• Previous experience working in a production environment
• Bilingual (English – Spanish) preferred
• Ability to read, comprehend and follow written and/or verbal instructions
• Must be able to interact well with other team members
• Must be a self-starter and able to work without close supervision
• Willingness and ability to work in a team environment
• Ability to understand different units of measure and record information
• Good safety knowledge and safety record
Travel:
• None Required
Work Environment:
• Individual will be subject to production and warehouse environment (wet environment with temperatures in the range of 38 to 40 degrees)
• Medium/High noise levels from operating machines and cleaning equipment
• Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts
• Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to enforce Good Food
Manufacturing (GMP’s) processes
• Frequently required to use personal protective equipment
Physical Requirements:
• Able to hold stationary positions for extended periods of time
• Able to communicate information accurately to others
• Able to detect and discern sounds accurately in order to exchange information
• Able to move throughout workspace frequently
• Adjust self to stooping, reaching, crouching, and twisting positions on occasion
• Able to observe details at close range, perceive colored images as well as effectively perceive computer generated images on a screen
• Inspect, activate, operate, and position any appropriate machinery functions
• Able to work overtime and/or weekends if/when needed
