The Opportunity
The Director Ethics & Compliance provides direct oversight for complex elements of Abbott’s compliance program at the global level.
They are responsible for directing the development and administration of global compliance policies and procedures; responsible for development and implementation of a global monitoring plan, including identifying compliance risk areas and communicating such risk areas to management; provides strategic oversight for OEC’s data analytics program.
This position works out of our Abbott Park or Chicago (Willis Tower) location in IL.
What You’ll Work On
The Director performs the following with minimal supervision from the Ethics & Compliance Officer, Global Programs:
Provides leadership, guidance and support to all levels of key divisional, global, regional and local OEC personnel on complex ethics and compliance issues, including policy interpretation, compliance risk assessment, trend analysis and best practice recommendations.
Resolves complex ethics and compliance matters that have a significant impact to Abbott.
Directs and conducts periodic reviews and updates of OEC’s Global Policy and Business Standards and divisional/affiliate procedures, ensuring clarity, applicability and compliance with external requirements.
Provides oversight over corporate and divisional risk assessment and monitoring processes, analyzes results and reports trends and observations to senior management.
Provides strategic oversight and management of OEC’s data analytics program.
Reviews industry trends and internal compliance metrics, and recommends corrective actions.
Possesses in-depth knowledge of Abbott's businesses.
Leads cross-functional teams on complex issues and projects.
Required Qualifications
BA/BS required.
CPA, Masters, JD or equivalent work experience preferred.
Minimum of 8 years experience with, or exposure to, business functions such as compliance, legal, regulatory affairs, government affairs, and/or finance.
Experience resolving complex situations through analysis and critical thinking.
