There is a recharging element inside and they turn on automatically.
One lantern doesn't work, the other one does.
( probably the battery needs to be replaced) When lit up, they look like candles, very pretty.
Look very nice and in good condition.
They can be also used indoors, like a decorative lamp with candles.
